Service area

The area in which you serve customers, or for which a salesperson is responsible.

With a clearly defined service area, you focus your time and marketing on where your customers are. You get to know the local market and build relationships with customers nearby.

What does this mean in practice?

A service area or sales territory is a geographical area, such as a city, a few neighbourhoods or a region. A business owner serves their customers there, or a salesperson is responsible for contact with businesses in it.

Why does this matter for your business?

With a fixed area, you plan routes more efficiently, get to know the market and build relationships. Word of mouth works faster when you're often active in the same neighbourhood. Customers also have one dedicated point of contact.

Examples and best practices

  • Plan your visits and jobs by route to save time.
  • Get to know the local industries and their busy and quiet seasons.
  • Build relationships, because referrals come faster in your own area.
  • Keep track of where you've been and with what result.

How we do it at Ikoon

On an Ikoon website, you clearly show where you work. With the Interactive service area map module, visitors can see at a glance whether you cover their area. Local SEO+ (town and neighbourhood pages) helps you get found more easily in every town within your service area.

What clients say

For years we had a website that worked like “a business card”. We got in touch with Ikoon Media through a contact. After a few conversations we decided to work with them, and now we have a superb website we’re completely happy with. (…)
