Value versus price

The difference between what something costs and what it really delivers for the customer.

Customers buy value: new customers, time and peace of mind. Show them that value, and price is no longer the biggest objection.

What does this mean in practice?

The price is the amount on the invoice. The value is what the customer gets in return: new customers, time saved, peace of mind and a better image for their business.

Why does this matter for your business?

If a customer only sees the price, any amount seems high. Once they understand the value, price is no longer the biggest objection. It's your job to show that value with figures and examples.

Examples and best practices

  • Work out together with the customer what one new job is worth.
  • Show how much time something saves, such as letting customers book appointments online.
  • Compare the cost with what the alternative costs.
  • Talk about results, not features.
