Correctly configured MX records are needed for business e-mail on your own domain to work reliably.
What does this mean in practice?
An MX record (Mail Exchange) is a setting in your domain's DNS. It specifies which server receives e-mail for addresses on your domain, such as info@jouwbedrijf.nl. There can be several MX records, each with its own priority.
Why does this matter for your business?
If your MX record is wrong or missing, e-mails to your business won't arrive. Customers get an error message. Or worse: messages disappear without anyone noticing.
Examples and best practices
- Set up your MX records according to your e-mail provider's instructions.
- Plan the migration of your mailboxes carefully when you switch providers.
- Remove old MX records you no longer use.
- After a change, send test e-mails from different addresses.
