INP has replaced FID within the Core Web Vitals. Heavy scripts and plug-ins slow down a page's response. That's frustrating for visitors.
What does this mean in practice?
INP (Interaction to Next Paint) measures how quickly a page responds when a visitor does something. For example, clicking a button, opening the menu or typing in a form. INP has replaced the older FID metric within the Core Web Vitals.
Why does this matter for your business?
If nothing happens for a moment after a click, visitors click again or give up. According to Google, a good INP is less than 200 milliseconds.
Examples and best practices
- Limit heavy scripts, especially third-party ones.
- Remove plug-ins and widgets you don't use.
- Delay loading ad scripts and chat windows.
- Test on less powerful phones too.
How we do it at Ikoon
Because Ikoon builds every website to measure, never from a template, your site carries no unnecessary code from a standard theme. Extras such as a chat or analytics are loaded so they don't hold the site up. That way your website responds quickly on a phone too.
