A good elevator pitch makes clear who you are, what problem you solve and why it's worth continuing the conversation. It helps when networking, in sales conversations and in the copy on your website.
What does this mean in practice?
An elevator pitch is a short explanation of about 30 seconds. You say who you are, what problem you solve, for whom and why it's worth talking further. As if you only have one lift ride. For example: 'I help homeowners in the Utrecht area get a new bathroom, without the hassle of separate tradespeople. Shall I pop round for a no-obligation visit?'
Why does this matter for your business?
The first few seconds decide whether someone gives you their time. A good pitch is simple, concrete and focused on the benefit to the customer, not on a description of your business.
Examples and best practices
- Start with the customer's problem, not with yourself.
- Mention one concrete benefit, ideally with a number.
- End with a question or a small next step.
- Practise out loud until it sounds natural.
How we do it at Ikoon
On an Ikoon website, your pitch appears in the headline of the first screen: what you do, who for and why choose you. Every site gets a unique, custom design, so that message fits your business. With Premium copywriting, we write your copy based on a conversation with you.
