Conversational search

Searching through a conversation with AI instead of typing in short keywords.

People ask full questions and then ask follow-ups. Websites written in natural language with specific answers suit this way of searching better.

What does this mean in practice?

With conversational search, you find information through a conversation. You ask a full question, get an answer and ask a follow-up, for example: and which of them still has availability on Saturday? ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI Mode work this way.

Why does this matter for your business?

Customers no longer just type ‘plumber Amersfoort’; they describe their problem. Websites that answer specific situations and questions in natural language fit better into those conversations. As a result, they get recommended more often.

Examples and best practices

  • Write content about your customers' real problems.
  • Use natural language and full sentences.
  • Add an FAQ with questions phrased the way customers actually ask them.
  • Give the details people ask follow-up questions about, such as lead times, prices and service area.

How we do it at Ikoon

On Ikoon websites, FAQ blocks are standard and the copy centres on your customers' questions, not just short keywords. With the Content Power Pack, you extend this with extra pages. That way, your website is ready for conversational search.

What clients say

For years we had a website that worked like “a business card”. We got in touch with Ikoon Media through a contact. After a few conversations we decided to work with them, and now we have a superb website we’re completely happy with. (…)
